William 'Curtis' Buchanan, 80, Knoxville TN, died peacefully at home November 6, 2009. He served in the U.S. Navy and was an avid golfer. He was born December 7, 1928, in Tazewell, TN, and worked the family farm. He was employed by Foote Mineral Co. in Knoxville for many years and transferred with the same company to Keokuk, Iowa. He and other partners purchased this facility called Keokuk Ferro-Sil which he ran as President/CEO for approximately 3 years. He retired, returning to Knoxville and actively enjoyed his first love – golfing. He was a member of Church Street UMC and Murphy Builders Sunday School Class. He is preceded in death by parents, Alvin Dow and Callie (Presley) Buchanan; and brother, Cecil Buchanan. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Mary Ann Buchanan; sisters, Geraldine McNamara, Berryville, VA, and Charlene (Earl) Parker Winchester, VA; niece and nephews; and many dear friends. The family will receive friends 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., Sunday, November 8, 2009, at Highland Memorial Funeral Home Services will be Monday, November 9, 2009, at 11 a.m., Church Street UMC with Rev. William J. Fowler, Rev. Cabel Trent and Dr. Charles Wender officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Murphy Builders SS Class. Burial following at Highland Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements by Highland Memorial Funeral Home.
