Roland Ralph "Pete" McNiel, 88, was born December 1, 1924 to Clyde Franklin and Berth a McNiel in Haskell County. He graduated from Union High School. Pete served in the United States Navy. He married Joy Riley on September 6, 1949 in Lovington, NM. Pete was a member of Union Baptist Church and the Odd Fellows. Pete was preceded in death by his son, Terry Lee McNiel, and sister, Estell Miller.
Pete is survived by his wife, Joy McNiel of Brownfield ; 6 children, Louise Close Stan of Pampa, Stan McNiel of Austin, Sherry Baskin-Neitsch of Levelland, Cathy Norrod of Altadina, CA, Jerry McNiel of Brownfield, Chris McNiel of Wichita, Ka; 15 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and Niece Marietta Sooter of Lubbock.
