Grover Attamay Christmus, 98, 1218 Northwood Ave. died Thursday. Born in Fairfield County, he was a son of the late William J. and Mattie Hinnant Christmus.
He was a World War I Navy veteran and served as chief of the fire department at Congaree Air Base during World War II. He retired as battalion chief from the Columbia Fire Department and was a member of Richland Masonic Lodge No. 39 and Park Street Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Marguerite Clark of Columbia; and grandchildren, Patrick and Andrew Clark.
Services will be held at 2 p. m. Sunday at Park Street Baptist Church, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery.
