Nancy (Abbott) Ipock, 67, Fishers, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at home with her family. She was born April 4, 1941 in Monticello,(Wayne) Kentucky to Rupert and Cordie Belle (Manco) Abbott.

After graduating from Wayne County High School in Monticello, Nancy attended Bowling Green Business University, Bowling Green, Kentucky and went to work at Western Electric in Indianapolis, Indiana (for $67.25 week wages). She would work there for the next 25 years.

In 1960, nineteen year old Nancy, and a group of her friends, while cruising Blue Ribbon ice cream bar, met Thomas Woodrow Ipock and a group of his friends doing the same. Three couples from this meeting eventually married and the group remained lifelong friends.

March 17, 1961 Nancy Lou Abbott and Thomas Woodrow Ipock , in the company of family and friends, were married at First Southern Baptist Church in Indianapolis by the Rev. Gordon W. Paschall. Two sons were born to this union: Jeffrey Thomas in 1961 and Gregory Scott in 1971.

With the closing of Western Electric in Indianapolis, employees were given the option of transfer. Nancy and family moved to Columbus, Ohio. It was while in Columbus son Gregory Scott was diagnosed with cancer. This was the toughest of battles for the family at large and especially for the young teen. Greg passed away September 2, 1985, age 14. The family soon moved back to Fishers.

Returning to Fishers was a time of new beginnings. Son Jeffrey married long time friend Donna Bowman, Nancy began working as a legal secretary at Cambell, Kyle & Proffitt Lawfirm and Tom began working in a business of his own. Another huge change came with the birth of Shannon Nicole Ipock in December of 1994, and Tom and Nancy becoming grandparents to the only Grandchild in the World! Day by day there were new photographs to be shared and new stories of the happiness this little girl brought into their lives. They could be found playing on a quilt in the floor, up in the jungle gym in the yard, or taking baby Shannon around to visit with friends and extended family. Yes, they would make a little room for Jeff & Donna in this new life.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 48 years, Thomas Ipock; son Jeff (Donna) Ipock, Noblesville; granddaughter Shannon Nicole Ipock of Noblesville; siblings, Juanita (Ben) Coffey, Nadine (Jim) McCune, Kenneth (Paula) Abbott, Wanda Humble, Gwen (Lawrence) Dick, Linda (Dale) Perdue, Brenda (Walter) Orr, Carlotta Sue Abbott and in-laws Jimmy (Norma) Ipock, Dorothy (Kim) England, Lucille O'Neal) and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father Rupert Abbott in March 1975, mother Cordie Manco Abbott in March of 1993, son Gregory Scott Ipock in September of 1985, brother, Orvin Rue Abbott in February of 1999 and nephew/friend, Billy Ray Coffey in October of 1995.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary. Friends may call Saturday, December 13, 12:00 - 2:00 PM at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary.
