Fort Bend Herald, April 13, 2014:

Cleone Bess Buffington, 72, of Richmond, passed away on April 9, 2014. She was born March 7, 1942 in Cherokee, Oklahoma.

Cleone is preceded in death by her parents, Wilford and Alice Jay Kincheloe; and her brother, Jay D. Kincheloe.

Cleone was proud of her Oklahoma heritage and made many pilgrims back to Cherokee from the many places around the world where she accompanied and supported her husband, Stan, on his assignments in the Petroleum Industry. Her most memorable periods were in Nigeria and the Biafra War, then in Libya where her son, Brad, was born about the same time of the Gadafi over throw of King Idris, another stint back in Nigeria before assignment to the Far East, residing in Singapore where her daughter, Debra, was born, finally to London before relocating to Houston, Texas.

During these extended periods, Cleone served as "Den Mother" in helping many assigned employees and wives to become acclimated to foreign locations. Her help and hospitability is a remembrance to many. Her stepson, Brian, and stepdaughter, Leslie, were able to alternate time and schooling.

Memorial visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., with a service at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2014, at Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home located at 3900 B.F. Terry Blvd. Rosenberg, Texas, Hwy 59 South to FM 2218 on left west.
