Final Rites for Joseph J. Kunz
Joseph J. Kunz, 43 years of age died last Saturday following a long illness. He was born December 6, 1906 in Bern, the son of William J. and the late Annie Schmid Kunz. He was married to Ethel Poulsen on July 3, 1933 in the Salt Lake Temple. Active in church work, he served in the Mutual Improvement Association and the Genealogical Society, and was chosen as a counselor to Bishop Alvin C. Tueller in the Second Ward Bishopric on january 20, 1946, and was ordained a High Priest and set apart as a member of the Bishopric by Elder Joseph F. merrill on March 19, 1946. Surviving are his widow and son, Larrry; his father, William J. Kunz of Montpelier, and the following sisters and brothers; Mrs. H.D. Thomas, Mrs. Louis Kunz, Mrs. Louis Eschler, Montpelier; Mrs. Sophie Bateman of Midvale, Utah; Mrs. Myrtle Steckler, Bern, and Mrs. Alfred O.Jensen of Ovid, Willard R. Kunz of Montpelier and leslie A. Kunz of Pocatello. Services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Second ward chapel with Bishop Alvin C. Tueller presiding. The opening song, "Sometime We'll Understand, " was by a quartet comprised of Mrs. Weston Wright, Mrs. Winston Bridges, Eugene J. Grimes and Thomas Vaterlaus, with Lynn Shepherd as accompanist; invocation, Bishop B.E. Mumford; vocal duet, "Whispering Hope", mr. and Mrs. Milford Passey of Conda, with Mrs. Lester Armatage as accompanist; speaker, Frank Knutti; vocal duet, "Beyond the Sunset", Mr. and Mrs. Whitney J. Transtrum of St. Charles, with Mrs. Emery Welling as accompanist; speaker, Parley lloyd; vocal duet, "Beautiful Land", Mr. and Mrs. James Olsen of Ovid; speaker, Bishop Tueller; song, "Beautiful Isle of Somewher", quartet.
