Ruth D. Wood, 89, died March 29, 2014 at a Machias hospital. She was born April 1, 1924 in Jonesboro the daughter of the late Bert and Jessie (White) Davis . She attended the White School, the Washington Grammar School, and graduated from Jonesboro High School in the class of 1941. She graduated from the Washington State Normal School in 1944 and Washington Teacher's College in 1957. She did her student teaching in Weston; taught 2 years in Jonesport; 21 years in Jonesboro; 10 years in Lubec; and 6 years in Machias.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Percy W. Wood, Jr.; a daughter Irene and husband Jere of Jonesboro; grandson, Albert Faulkingham; granddaughter, Ansleigh (Ruth) McCannell and husband Rob; granddaughter-in-law, Clara Faulkingham; four great-granddaughters, Jessica Faulkingham, Meghan Faulkingham, Lauren McCannell and Erin McCannell.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Eugene Davis and Orrin White; her sister, Eleanor Davis and her grandson, Gardner Faulkingham.
Graveside services will be held 1pm Saturday April 26, 2014 at the Bayview Cemetery, Jonesport.
