DONALD R. BLACK, age 80, a resident of Irving since 1966, died Thursday, April 10, 2014 at home. Born June 24, 1933 in Roxton, Texas, the son of Roy W. Black and Clara Pruett Black, he grew up in Paris, Texas. A U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, he married Charlcy L. Evans on March 10, 1953 in Paris. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor degree, he was employed at Textron in George, LTV in Dallas and Superior Cable in Brownwood. He was a member of the Society of Human Resources Managers (SHRM), SW Aerospace Human Resources Managers, and a member of St. Stephen's Presbyterian Church in Irving. Preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Dorothy Vaughan and Betty Baer, survivors include his wife, Charlcy and daughter, Julia Black, both of Irving. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday at Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway in Irving. A memorial service is 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 14 at St. Stephen's Presbyterian Church, 1621 Grauwyler in Irving with Pastor Ron Salfen officiating. Burial will be at 9:15 a.m., Monday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
