Dr. Samuel de Leon Avery, aged 53 years, died at his home, 119 North Eutaw street, early yesterday morning. Dr. Avery had been in ill health for over a year, but his condition grew worse the early part of last week.
Dr. Avery was born at Rock Hill, S. C. and was the son of Dr. E. T. Avery and Mary Masse Avery, of that town. He was graduated with the 1893 class of dentistry from the University of Maryland, and has practiced in this city since that time. He was a member of the Masons.
Surviving are one daughter (Miss Dorothy Avery), two sisters (Mrs. R. C. Laughlin and Miss Ella Avery, of Anderson, S.C.) and two brothers (E. R. Avery, of Birmingham, Ala. and J. W. Avery, of this city.)
