James Dewey Marsh, age 75, died Monday, April 7th in a local hospital. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 on Thursday, April 10th, in the chapel of Belk Funeral Home, with burial following in Grove Hill Cemetery with military honors.

Born on January 20, 1939 in Lee County, he was the son of the late James Marsh and Frances Marsh Bell. Dewey served his county in the United States Army and the Air Force. He also served in the SC State Guard. Mr. Marsh had retired from DUPONT. Dewey served as chairman of the jetport commission, and enjoyed fishing, scuba diving and travelling. Mr. Marsh always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Spivey Marsh of Hartsville, a daughter, Stephanie M. Galloway of Darlington, a son, Jim (Julie) Souter of Georgia, one granddaughter, Kathryn E. (Joey) Gainey of Darlington, one great-grandchild, Carson Gainey, step-children, Wendy Crowley of Florence and John Travis DuRant of Georgia, step-grandchildren, Christian and Chapel Crowley, and siblings; Woodrow (Gayle) Marsh of NC, Binkey Gardner of Bishopville, Leila Smith of Bishopville and Shirley (Dean) Campbell of Columbia, and a friend, Tracy Larymore.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeannine Garland Marsh.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the funeral home and other times at the home, 1621 E. Lydia Highway, Hartsville.

The family expresses their gratitude to the nurses in the trauma care unit of McLeod Hospital.
