Margaret Eleanor Akins died Friday, March 28, 2014 at Community Hospital, Missoula, Montana. Results of a stroke.
Margaret was born February 13, 1914 to Walter and Margaret Davis in McCune, Kansas. She had just celebrated her 100 birthday a few weeks ago.
Margaret married Otis S. Akins in Neosho, Missouri in 1939. They moved to Portland, Oregon during the war, then, in 1957 they moved with their three children to Boise, Idaho.
Margaret was employed at Falks Department Store, Manager of Idaho Ambulance, serving on the state advisory committee for E.M.T. Ambulance moving patients from the old St. Al's Hospital to the new Hospital. Later she was employed by Ada County Sheriff's Department where she set-up the Micro-film department for the City-County Law Enforcement. Margaret retired in 1979.
Margaret loved her family, lots of friends, her roses, and writing poetry.
Margaret is survived by two daughters; Jeanene Carr of Meridian, Idaho and Kay Pooley Dorris (Artie) of Missoula, Montana; three grandchildren, Pam Fitch of Bainbridge Island, Washington, Jim Carr Jr. (Heather) of Meridian, Idaho, and Russ Pooley (Pat) of Missoula, Montana; brother, Leonard Davis of California and Markley (Merle) of Pittsburg, Kansas, sister Arvella (Merle) Markley of Pittsburg, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis S. Akins; son Ronald Akins; son-in-law, Russ Pooley; grandson, Randy L. Pooley; grandson-in-law, Glen Fitch; and sister, M.E. White.
The private family service was held on Monday, April 7, 2014 at Cloverdale Memorial Park.
