The son of Thomas Cornelius Carver and Susan Adelaide Whittemore Carver, Thomas was an allied member of John and Betty More's Jonas line. He was raised at Fort Eustice, Virginia where his father was a United States Government machinist. The family relocated to Aberdeen, Maryland about 1935 where his father was a senior ordinance machinist with the War Department. Thomas, in 1944, was employed by the Post Office Department at Aberdeen Proving Ground. He served in the United States Navy on the U. S. S. La Grange during World War II and was honorably discharged on 5 July 1946. Thomas married to Jule More on 12 June 1950 at Bradford, Pennsylvania. They made their home first at University Park, Maryland where he was a student at University of Maryland. They resided at Washington, District of Columbia about 1954, Gloucester Point, Virginia about 1956, and Snow Hill, Maryland about 1959. As an Estuarine Ecologist, he was employed as oyster pathologist at the Oxford, Maryland Biological Laboratory. In 1964, he was appointed to the Department of Interior's Pesticide Review Staff as the representative of the Bureau of Commercial Fisheries to evaluate potential hazard from pesticidal chemicals. Thomas and Jule were the parents of three children; Daniel More Carver, Bradley Thomas Carver, and a daughter still living.
