Eleanor Amanda Loyd Davis, widow of Paul E. Davis, died Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at a local nursing center in Sumter, SC.

Born May 27, 1908 in Utica, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Frank R. Loyd and the late Ida Rebecca Loyd.

Mrs. Davis received her education in the public schools in Utica, Ohio, graduated from Ohio University and taught school for 30 years in Newark and Cincinnati, Ohio.

She was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority, Glenwood Chapter #303 Eastern Star, in Utica, Ohio for 79 years, and the local state and national retired Teachers Associations. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a member of the Shepherd's Center.

Surviving are two sons; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Stephen Taylor officiating.
