Ace Connell life celebration for Ace Connell will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lifeway Fellowship Church. Interment will follow at Killeen Memorial Park.
On Sept. 17, 1932, Ace Connell was born in Coal Hill, Ark., to Albert A. Connell and Etna B. Connell. Being the ninth of 10 sons, he traveled across the U.S. with his family as they struggled to make a living, resulting in attendance at three different high schools his senior year. He graduated in Leesville, La.
Throughout his life, his vibrant, good-natured personality accompanied him in his travels and daily work, where he was rewarded with many friends. Even 50 years after graduating from high school, he attended all three of his high school class reunions because of the lifelong friends he had made during those years.
That same ability with people would make Ace successful in the automobile business that he entered into with his older brother, Ted. Their collaboration led to the creation of Killeen Motor Company and later to Dodge Country, which Ace Connell owned and operated until 2003.
After retirement, he enjoyed several trips with his family all over the country. Sadly, after a long courageous battle with cancer Mr. Connell died April 2, 2014, at the age of 81.
Our family wishes to thank the staff of Cornerstone Gardens, Home Instead, and Hospice Compassus for their kind and loving care.
