Frank Hunold was born about 1830. He was a shipsmith and blacksmith. According to his obituary and his wife's death certificate, he was a native of New Orleans but in the 1900 census, his daughter Elizabeth Hunold Montagne said her father was born in France but a Civil War draft registration shows him as a blacksmith from Canton, Switzerland. He is listed only in the 1860 census in New Orleans and in the New Orleans City Directory until 1873. His wife Margaret died in 1868 in New Orleans but he married Elizabeth Howell in 1871 in Memphis Tennessee, and he shows up with her in the 1880 census in New Iberia. He died in Jeanerette, La. in 1884. His daughter Elizabeth Montagne lived near Jeanerette in New Iberia, La. He had another daughter Annie Nora who lived in New Orleans with her husband John B. McCloskey and a large family. There is one other Hunold family in New Orleans listed in the 1880 and one other census with Charles Hunold born 1803 and a younger wife Elizabeth born 1820. I think Charles may be the father or uncle of Francis J. Hunold. I also found a marriage license for a Antoni Hunold to Mary Springmeier, and there is a findagrave memorial for Antone(memorial 93194586) and Mary Springelmeier in Edina, Missouri. Attached is a burial record for Frank Hunold. A. C. Myrick lived with Frank Hunold in the 1880 census. He is also buried at Saint Johns Cemetery. A. C. Myrick was his step father-in-law with first wife Margaret McGinn.
