Edna Mary Ring Snell died on Saturday evening, December 17, 2005. It had been her fervent desire to go home for some time and the manner of her leaving was both peaceful and gentle.
A native of Minnesota she was a teacher there for a number of years prior to joining the Women's' Army Corps during the Second World War. Following her discharge from the WACs, she married Benn Snell and settled in California.
She was a resident of Salinas for over 50 years. Prior to he r retirement, she taught at the Army School of Education at Fort Ord for many years. She loved her work; she loved the mission of education.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979.
She leaves behind her children Mary and John, her daughter-in-law Barbara and her grandchildren Stephanie, Phillip, Cecily, Genevieve, and John Paul as well as nieces and nephews.
Mom, it is better to say too little than to try to express all that you were to us. There are no words. We will always love you.
A celebration of her life and funeral Mass will be held Thursday, December 22 at 1:30 at the Queen of Heaven Chapel burial will follow.
