A homemaker who dearly loved her family and friends, she passed peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, May 12, 2005, at her daughter's home in Baker, surrounded by her family and Penny the dog. She was 80, a resident of Baker and a native of Melville. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Saturday, May 14, from 10 a.m. until religious service at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Toby Granger. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Baton Rouge. She is survived by two daughters, Joie Perry, Pine Grove, and Patricia Prewitt Coates, Baker; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a special cousin by marriage, Stanley Whiteside, Baker; and her good friend and caregiver, Lorraine Veal. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Edward Prewitt; and great-grandson, Jody Lee Prewitt. Extended thanks to Trinity Hospice for their great care and to all her friends.
