Funeral services for Bernice M. Williams, 85, Binford, were held April 24, in Trinity Lutheran Church in Binford with Rev. John Damien officiating. She died April 20, 1997, at the Griggs County Nursing Home in Cooperstown, where she had been a resident since January of 1997.
Bernice was born February 6, 1912, at Brickton, MN, the daughter of Fred G. and Luella (McCue) Bach. Her mother died in 1916 and she was raised in foster homes and educated in Minot and Max, ND. She moved to Binford in 1925.
She married Vergil Williams December 24, 1928, in Cooperstown. They worked for area farmers and briefly had a garage in the New Rockford area. In 1945, they bought a creamery in Binford and remodeled it into a garage which they operated until Vergil’s death in 1966. For several years, Bernice was employed by the Binford School working in the lunch program. She lived in the Binford Manor Apartments until January of 1997.
Surviving members of the family are: two sons, Jerry (Ruby) Williams, Mandan, and Darrel (Doris) Williams, Williston; two daughters, Mrs. Ed (Patricia) Sedminik, Anaconda, MT, and Mrs. Gene (Debra) Johnson, Great Falls, MT; 21 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; one sister, Edith Wiley of Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Lilas joyce and Virginia Faye; two brothers, Earl and Joseph; one sister, Dorothy.
