PALMYRA, Mo. -- Edith Mae Applegate, 91, a homemaker of Palmyra, formerly of Philadelphia, Mo., died at 9:40 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 20, 1997) in a private care home in Palmyra.
Born Nov. 19, 1906, in Steffenville, she was a daughter of Robert and Matilda Bauerrichter Darley. She married Arland Applegate March 23, 1925, in Canton. He died Sept. 3, 1989.
Mrs. Applegate attended Haycraft School in Lewis County. She was a member of Nelsonville Assembly of God Church where she taught Sunday school for many years.
Survivors include four nephews, Robert L. Darley of Palmyra, Leo Darley of Hannibal, Tom Darley of Denmark, Iowa, and Leon Applegate of Novelty; and a niece, Freda Hughes of Hannibal. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert and Clarence Darley and two in infancy.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Nelsonville Assembly of God Church by the Rev. Ralph Peery and the Rev. DeWayne Larenson. Burial will be in Steffenville Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to the Steffenville Cemetery Association.
