Our dear Mom, Barbara McNeil Simmons passed away at her home in Mountain View and joined her husband LaVerl Simmons on March 31. She was surrounded by her loving family as she left this world.
Mom was born on Oct. 7, 1931 to Sadie May Nelson and Horace Delton McNeil. She grew up in Francis, Utah. She attended school in the South Summit District in Kamas, Utah.
Mom married Dad on Nov. 6, 1948. From this union were born Verla, Connie, Charlene and Robert. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple for all eternity on April 15, 1964.
Mom loved music and loved to dance. She met her beloved LaVerl at a dance. She was an excellent homemaker and seamstress. She loved to knit and crochet and made many beautiful items. She made us Christmas and Easter dresses.
Mom loved to have visitors and would always be eager to give lots of goodies. Nobody ever left hungry!
She enjoyed being a primary teacher in Francis and Mountain View Wards and secretary for the Francis Ward Primary.
She is the best grandma, great-grandma and great-great-grandma to 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Mom is survived by her children; Verla (Robert W) Piercy, Connie (Gary) Johnson, Charlene (Tom) White, and Robert (Jean Thiriot) Simmons; her sister Colleen Thacker (Lowell Thacker); and brother Rick Prescott (Loie Prescott) ; and by sisters-in-law Nelda McNeil and Marlina Shira.
She is preceded in death by her husband LaVerl; mother Sadie May; father Horace; stepfather Dick Prescott; stepsister Wanda Smith (Oren Smith); stepbrother Weldon Prescott; and brothers Philip McNeil and Michael McNeil

Funeral service will be Saturday, April 5, at 12:30 p.m. in the Francis LDS Ward Chapel in Francis Utah. Friends and family are invited for viewing from 11 a.m. to 12:15 at the church. Burial at Francis Cemetery, Francis, Utah, under the direction of Crandall Funeral Home, Kamas, Utah.
