Redding Record Searchlight (CA) February 5, 2003 John "Hop" M. Alsup, age 73, of Weaverville, died Friday, January 31, 2003, at the family residence in Napa. No services will be conducted. He was born June 13, 1929, in Ava, MO, and moved to Trinity County in 1993 from Napa. He was a retired state employee of the Sonona Developmental Center, where he worked for 20 years. In 1947 he graduated from Los Gatos High School, and was a former U. S. Merchant Marine, and a U. S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife Lois, daughters, Lori Alsup-Morello of Weaverville and Judy Towe of Napa; his sister Eva Grayson of Drury, MO. and five grandchildren, Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1031 Jefferson St. Napa, CA. 94559. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald-Files Chapel in Weaverville, CA. {son of John Edgar Alsup and Wava Detrick}
