Lucille A. Poole Brown Bradley
Born April 10 1888 in Morgantown, West Virginia.
She was red headed and was the 3rd child of Margarete Sterret-Poole her father was John Asby Poole a veterinarian of large farm animal. Her siblings were Nelly Poole Ransom, her husband ran a grocery store in California, another sister named Bessie Poole who died in a drowning at Moundsville West Virginia, a brother Walter Poole a barber and lived in Chicago, and the youngest was Rev. Ralph Poole who lived in Phoenix Arizona.
Lucille had no a middle name, but when she was older she decided to give herself one, and that was Alberta. Lucille Alberta Poole was introduced to the Church of God by her father John Asby Poole, she worked at the Moundsville, West Virginia Church of God newspaper, it was there that she met her future husband Rev. Ralph Brown they got married in 1925 at the age of 37 they had to two children together, the first child George Dale Brown died at birth, the second child was Helen Margarete Brown-Kreps, who she was very protective toward only letting her date Christian boys at the age of 18.
Lucille, was a instrumental woman behind the scenes at the Church of God, she led singing, and even did some preaching. She traveling back and forth from Anderson Indiana to West Virginia several times during her lifetime. Her 1st husband Rev. Ralph Brown passed away in 1955 and she met her second husband John O. Bradley at Eastside Church of God in Anderson Indiana and in 1960 she was remarried at the age of 72. She only drove a car once, and when she did she crashed into the Gates of East Maplewood Cemetery her future resting place. Never to drive again.
She was a very sweet and helpful lady of the community, and a very hard worker in the home like all of those women had to be back in those days.
One of her favorite treats was butter mints, and her favorite nursery rhyme was
Pease-porridge hot, Pease-porridge cold, Pease-porridge in the pot, Nine days old; Some like it hot, Some like it cold, Some like it in the pot, Nine days old.
Lucille went to be with the Lord on Wednesday April 16, 1975 at 86 years of age at the Turtle Creek Convalescent Center, she was a member of the North Anderson Church of God. Surviving was her husband John Bradley a daughter Helen Kreps and a brother Rev. Ralph Poole from Phoenix Arizona and four grandchildren. Steve Kreps, Mary Kreps, Mark Kreps and Andrew Kreps.
