In October, 1864, he enlisted in Company H, Forty third Indiana Volunteer Infantry, and served with that regiment in all its marches and engagements until the close of the war, being mustered out at Indianapolis in June, 1865. After his return from the army, he farmed the home place on shares, and ran a threshing machine for three years. He then removed to Hendricks County, Ind., near Stilesville, where he remained one year, then returned to Putnam County, and engaged in agricultural pursuits until March, 1880. He then came to Eminence, Morgan Co., Ind., where he has since engaged in the drug trade. He was married, October 14, 1869, to Elizabeth Dobbs, a native of Putnam County, Ind.
