William Harlan Banks II, 69, died on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, in Caldwell County. Born September 2, 1944, in Harris County, Texas, he was the son of William Harlan Banks and Audrey Lee Lockett Banks.

Early in life, William was a machinist with Drilco Oil. He then became a contractor for Airvent Awning Company and soon after, started his own business, Cool Shade Construction. Additionally, William served with the Harris County Sheriff and Spring Valley Police Departments as a reserve police officer. In his later years, William worked as a security officer at several local businesses.

Known to some as "Harlan" and others as "Bill", he was an avid gun collector and loved the outdoors. After retiring in 2011, he moved to his property in the country to enjoy a more relaxed life.

Preceded in death by his parents, William is survived by his three sons, William Harlan Banks III (wife, Melissa) of Montgomery, Matthew Wayne Banks (wife, Amy) of Heath, and Christopher Allen Banks of Houston; brother, Daniel Wayne Banks (wife, Bonnie) of Hempstead; sister, Becky Sue Krametbauer of Hempstead; Granddaughters, Krystal Marie Jackson (husband, Scott) of Cypress, Kathryn Elizabeth Banks of Heath, and Gabrielle Elise Banks of Montgomery; Great-grandchildren, Sophie Marie Jackson and Ryan Scott Jackson of Cypress; several cousins, nieces and a nephew.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, April 5 at 4:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, Houston, TX.
