"Forrest 'Shorty' Carr, 82, of Springfield Township passed away, August 26, 2006. Born in Weston, W. Va., he lived in the Springfield area most of his life, and retired from General Tire Co. He was a WWII Army veteran; belonged to the VFW Airport Post #8975 and the South Akron Orioles Club #167. He is survived by his sons... brother, Tom; grandson... granddaughter... and two great grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 1:30 Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at the Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Rd. (Route 619) with Pastor Charles Young officiating. Calling hours will be Tuesday, 7-9 p.m. Interment at East Liberty Cemetery with veteran's service."
