Jean Kenton Baxter passed away peacefully after a prolonged illness on August 13, 2011 in Arizona. Jean was born in Alamosa, Colorado on February 27, 1914. Over her long life she experienced many things and contributed many things to those who knew her. Jean was a psychologist who specialized in Family Relations. She owned the Southwest Counseling Service in Southern California for many years. She moved to Oregon in the 1970's with her first husband Bert Jordan, and worked for the school system and the criminal courts in The Dalles. After she retired, Jean and her second husband, Lynn Baxter moved to Leisure World in Laguna Hills, California. there she pursued her lifelong loves of dancing and swimming. She and her husband also traveled the world together. Both of her husbands pre-deceased her. In 2005, Jean moved to Arizona to be closer to family. She continued her active life style, living independently and participating in most of the activities offered at her retirement home. She had frequent visits from family members and always felt especially grateful for her longevity when she could welcome a new member to the family. Jean and Bert had three children together, of whom only one survives; her son, Stan Jordan, who lives in Austin, Texas. She has two step-children; Lynda Baxter Bailey of Colorado, and Byron Baxter of Washington. Jean has 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She will be sorely missed. Arrangements under the direction of Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care, Mesa, AZ.
