"PALM COAST - Stephen C. DiGuilo, 32, Black Bear Lane, a medical technician for Health and Rehabilitative Services and a bouncer (for the Spare Time Lounge), died Saturday of a gunshot wound outside a Palm Coast bar (Spare Time Lounge). Mr DiGiulio was born in Bronx, N.Y. and came here 15 years ago from New York City, N.Y. He was a graduate of Flagler - Palm Coast High School and Daytona Beach Community College. He was a volunteer firefighter and Chairman of the Special Olympics for several years. He was a member of the Flagler County Ambulance Service as an emergency medical technician and had served as a Flagler County corrections officer (Flagler county Sheriff's Office). Survivors include his wife, Sandy; two sons, Stephen Jr. and Christopher; his parents, Louis and Marie, Palm Coast; and a brother, Pete. The family suggests donations be made to a trust fund that has been set up for the children at Barnett Bank of Palm Coast. Volusia Memorial, Ormond Beach, is in charge."

He was outside of the Spare Time trying to keep bystanders away from an angry individual with a pistol while law enforcement was trying to talk the individual into putting down the gun. The individual shot Stephen in the back, fatally wounding him, the police fired on the individual killing him.
