Civil War Union Army Officer.

27th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry.

He was commissioned as a Captain in the 39th New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on September 19, 1864, and was mustered in as the commander of Company K on September 23, 1864. He led his unit through the end of the war, and was honorably mustered out on June 20, 1865.
