Lowville -- Edwin G. Beadle, 67, of 5390 Rural Ave., retired longtime employe of the state Department of Transportation, died Thursday morning in St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Utica, after a brief illness. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Peter's Church, with Rev. Bernard Christman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lowville Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Donald F. Virkler Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday. Surviving are his wife, Mary; two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Murrock, Copenhagen, and Mrs. Alta Baker, Watertown, and several nieces and nephews. Four sisters died before him: Ruth Baker, Kate Cone, Rhoda Williams and Beatrice, who died in infancy. Born in Barnes Corners on July 12, 1921, a son of George and Clara Colony Beadle, he attended local schools in the Lowville area. He served in the Army from 1940 to 1945 during World War II, seeing duty in the European theater. He married Mary M. Woolschlager on Oct. 1, 1955, in St. Peter's rectory, with Rt. Rev. Msgr. John A. Cotter officiating. Mr. Beadle was employed by the State Department of Transportation for 33 years, retiring in 1973. He was a communicant of St. Peter's Church and a member of the Lowville American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
