Per her gravestone her first name was Nazale, though her marriage record gives it as Nazani, either way Nellie was used in English. Her grave gives her birth year as March 6, 1906 while the marriage record gives July 2, 1901 and naturalization has March 27, 1904. Her father's name was Hovhannes John Boursalian and mother was listed as Regina, so presumably Takouhi in Armenian. In 1922 she was a maid in Constaninople and had no relatives there. She took the King Alexander from there on August 8 headed for Philadelphia where she had been arranged to marry Srabion "Samuel" Santerian. She had no relative or contact in Constantinople and at the time had the last name Der Hagopian, uncertain if that was actually her maiden name . She arrived at Ellis Island on September 1 and they were married on the 3rd. They had daughters Viola Santerian Karaghusian and Mary Santerian Sahakian. After her husband's death Nellie married Philip Pilbos Der Avedisian. At some point after his death she moved to California. Besides her daughters, she was survived by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
