A Texas pioneer and the founder of Cook's Fort in Cherokee County, Texas while Texas was still a Republic. Cook's Fort was intended to be the County Seat of Cherokee County but Rusk was closer to the center of the county and therefore "won" the county seat battle. While not "famous" in the Find-A-Grave definition, Mr. Cook was a gentleman of great importance to the founding of Cherokee County, Texas.
