A native of Oconee County, he was the son of the late Ozzie Esmond and Janie Wyly Cashin. Mr. Cashin was a retired employee of Abbotts Mens Store and was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and an honorary member and original founder of Oconee Country Club.
In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by a son, James Arthur Cashin of Mountain Rest; a daughter, Cheryl Cashin McDowell of Walhalla; sisters, Mabel C. Whitmire of Westminster, and Sarah C. Wilhelm of Clemson; grandchildren, Hope McDowell and Stefanie McDowell; and a great-grandchild, Melody Rae Harden.
In addition to his parents, brothers, Gordon Lamar, Edward Thomas, Frank Hall, Albert Brandes and Henry Barkley; and a sister, Ethel C. Dance Heard, predeceased Mr. Cashin.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at 3 p.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church, with burial at Oconee Memorial Park.
