You may often see her name as some variation of Ardella, but there was no "R" officially in her name. The pronunciation may have stressed an "R" but written it should be Adella.

Adella was the baby of 12 children. Her parents were almost 50 when they had her.

***Adella's stone reads: 12/18/1832 - 04/09/1896, but her obituary (07/20/1898) states she died 05/27/1898!***

Mrs. Ardella A. McJunkins was born in Newton County, Georgia in 1832 and was married to Theopholis W. McJunkin of Union District, South Carolina in 1857. She was converted and joining the Methodist Church in 1842 and continued a faithful and consistent member until she was transferred by the Great Head of the Church to the church triumphant on the 27th day of May, 1898.

Modest and unassuming, gentle and kind, faithful and true, hers was a character to be admired whenever and where ever found. A Christian experience of fifty-six years, ripened as it grew older, it shed a halo of beneficent love throughout the bounds of an extended acquaintance.

Naturally sympathetic and easily touched, as feeble as she was, it seemed a labor of love for her to minister to the wants and necessities of those around her, especially at the bedside of the sick and dying. She was devoted to the church, and was ever present attending upon its ordinances unless prevented by sickness. Her life was an inspiration and benediction to all who came within the charmed circle of her Christian influence. It was her highest aspiration to live a consistent Christian life - to do good and get good, hence she was always found being and doing for the Master.

It was the pleasure of this writer to visit her several times during her sickness, and always found her perfectly resigned to suffer her affliction, which she did with much patience, fortitude and courage. It was her great joy to hear the precious promises of God read, and then have prayer offered in which she always joined her feeble voice.

Just a short time before laying down this mortal to put on immortality, she called her children around her bedside and bade them continue to follow her as she had followed Christ. She was the mother of nine children, three of whom with her husband preceded her to the Kingdom. Six are left to mourn her loss, but cherish her memory. She was a good wife, a kind, faithful, never tiring, loving, tender mother, a good neighbor and a true Christian.

Owing to the absence of the writer at the time of her death, the funeral service was not held, but will be some time in the near future.

Her pastor, George W. Hall

(She was actually mother of 12 children, 3 unnamed infants, 2 named and one teenage daughter died, and one stillbirth.)
