Ashland, July 13. - Burial services were held Sunday afternoon in the Ashland cemetery for a former resident, Jesse Acres, 77, who passed away Friday, July 10, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Smedley, west of Petersburg. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the residence and at 2:30 p.m. at the Petersburg Baptist church, with Rev. William Ogden in charge of the services.

PETERSBURG.-Jesse Acre, 77, died Friday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Smedley, west of this city, following a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p. m. at the residence and at 2:30 p. m. at the Petersburg First Baptist church, the Rev. William Ogden officiating. Interment will be in the Ashland cemetery.
Mr. Acre was born in Indiana but had lived in Menard county 47 years.
He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Bertha McDermott and Mrs. Nellie Schroeder, Springfield; Mrs. Clara Smedley and Mrs. Mattie Meece, Petersburg; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Florence Fitzhugh, Auburn.
