Eldest son of David and Sarah (Cushman) Jennings, the age on Cyrenius' grave marker is incorrect, as he was already an adult by 1787, as shown by many sources listed below.

In 178 7 in Morgan Township, Washington Co, Pennsylvania, Cyrenious Jennings, a single man, was taxed for the first time. A person is not taxed until his 21st birthday, so this source shows that Cyrenius had turned 21. His father, David Jennings, and known associates, Nathaniel Dunham [Donha], Able Bell and Ignatious Ross, were also on the list.

Sirenus/Serisnos Jennings was listed as Frontier Ranger for Washington Co, PA 1781 - 1782, in the book, Washington Co, PA Frontier Rangers 1781 - 1782, Paul W. Myers, p. 17. , PA Archives, series 3- vol 23-p. 202. He is also listed in William H. Egle, ed, Pennsylvania in the War of the Revolution Associated Batallions and Militia 1775 - 1883, Harrisburg: E.R. Meyers, 1888, p. 744, Lieut. Elijah Mills Company: privates included, Cyrenius Jennings. p. 749 Captain Benjamin Stitts [sic Stites] . Privates included, Syrenius Jennings.

Cyrenius' mother and siblings went to Ohio in the fall of 1789, and his father before the August, 1790 federal census was taken, but Cyrenius stayed in Washington, Co., PA until 1796.

Cyrenius Jennings was a witness, to the will of James Bell, dated 13 Feb 1791, proved April 27, 1791. Cyrenius was on the 1793 tax list for Morgan Twp, Washington Co, Pennsylvania, along with his father, but David was taxed for no land, while Cyrenius was. taxed for land. David was in Columbia, Hamilton Co, Ohio, in 1791, when he joined the Baptist church there. No deeds have yet been located to show the disposal of any of the Jennings Morgan Township, Washington Co, PA property.

Cyrenius' son, Zephaniah, born 1793 stated in the 1850 census that he was born in Pennsylvania.

In Morgan Twp, Washington Co, Pennsylvania, near the time it became part of Greene County, on 19 Mar 1796, David Shelby and Mary his wife to John Kimberlin of Greene Co. David Shelby owned the patent adjoining the SW tip of the David Jennings patent, called Laurel Point. The deed mentions the land of Cyrenius Jennings. .... from Washington Co, Pennsylvania Deed book 1M, p57, film 862510

Even though Cyrenius' land was mentioned in 19 Mar 1796 deed, he must have already moved with his family to Columbia Township, Hamilton Co, Ohio because his name was included on the 22 Aug 1796 tax list there. Tax lists are made for the preceding year, so the Cyrenius Jennings family must have been there in 1795.

Cyrenius [spelled Sirenus in record] was in Columbia Twp, Hamilton County Ohio 22 Aug 1796, when he was included in a list of taxpayers there. The Cincinnati Historical Society holds the original record book. His brothers Levi and Henry were also on this tax list.

Cyrenius must have sold his land in Washington Co, PA between 1796 and 1797, as the 1798 Direct Tax for Morgan Twp, Greene Co, PA, that includes dwelling houses, resident, and owner of the property, has no Jennings or in-law listed. No deed has been found showing the sale of any Jennings land in Washington/Greene Co, PA.
