Joyce Dornhoff, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the Kearney County Health Services-Hinterlong Assisted Living, Minden, Nebraska. Joyce was born on August 17, 1933 on her grandparent's farm south of Gibbon, Nebraska to Fredric "Fred" and Sylvia (Smith) Pember.

Joyce attended school in both Wood River and Kenesaw, Nebraska. On January 11, 1951 she married Herbert Dornhoff. They lived all their married life in the Kenesaw/Heartwell, Nebraska area. To this union five children were born, Linda, Vicki, Steve, Marci and Scott. Joyce loved being outdoors, playing cards and yathzee. She enjoyed caring for her family and visiting with friends. She also loved spending time at the Harlan County, Nebraska Damn, they made many friends there and it was their second home. Joyce spent many years as a waitress in Kenesaw and Heartwell, Nebraska. She was a member of the Kenesaw (NE.) United Methodist Church and later joined the United Methodist Church, Minden, Nebraska. Joyce was a past member of the Kenesaw Women's Club and was a member of the Kearney County Health Services Auxiliary. Herbert died on February 1, 2004 and Joyce later moved to Minden, Nebraska. In 2013 she moved to Gibbon, Nebraska and in January of 2014 she moved back to Minden, Nebraska and lived at the Hinterlong Assisted Living.

Joyce is preceded in death by: husband, Herbert Dornhoff; parents; daughter, Linda Schukei; sister, Janice Mankin and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services were on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Minden, Nebraska with Rev. Paul Blanchard and Chaplain Thayne Moore as co-officiators.

Burial was in Eaton Cemetery, Heartwell, Nebraska.
