Jeanette Lucille (Akre) Hammargren Wohlenhaus was born Nov. 8, 1916, in Winger to Joseph and Irene Akre, and grew up and attended school in Grand Rapids.

Jeanette married Harry Lawrence Hammargren in 1935 and the couple had two children: Larry Roger and Kathleen Elaine. Jeanette married Albert Frederick Wohlenhaus on February 8, 1954 in Itasca County.

Jeanette spent her adult life in Deer River as a mother, homemaker and running the Sportsmen's Cafe with her husband Al. Following Al's death in 1969, she continued to run the cafe until its sale upon her retirement in 1992.

She is survived by a son, Larry Hammargren; a daughter, Kathleen Cockrell; three brothers, Gary, Lawrence and Robert Akre; and three grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Albert; four sisters, Beulah, Edith, Elaine and Emily; and three brothers, Clarence "Tex", Kermit "Bud" and Roger.

Memorial service: Wednesday, Dec. 29, at 1 p.m. at Carroll Funeral Home, Deer River.

Private burial: Olivet Cemetery.
