Glenn served in the U.S. Navy prior to World War II. The highlights of his Naval service were to be on the Amelia Earhart search aboard the USS Lexington CV2, marching across the opening of the Golden Gate Bridge. and assisting to deliver destroyers to Halifax, Nova Scotia for the Lend Lease agreement with England.
He was a Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army during World War II and commanded three ocean going tugboats. His command was part of those groups who ferried pieces of the famous floating docks to Omaha and Utah Beaches after the Normandy Landings.
After the war, Glenn married Merle and began careers in ranching, the railroad, and finally in Civil Service at Kelly Air Force Base from which he retired in 1975. He loved to hunt, fish, and gardening.
