George married Marcy Ann Shirek on February 17, 1949. He farmed and lived in Whitman, ND, then moved to Michigan, ND, in 1958. He entered the US Army in 1942 and served in the Asiatic Pacific. He was wounded at Okinawa in April 1945. He was awarded the Victory, Asiatic-Pacific two bronze star medals, Purple Heart, Expect Infantryman and Combat Infantryman badges. He was discharged June 1946 as Sargent.
