Mrs. Anna Laura Despain Butler, 67, of 160 Fourth Avenue, widow of Alva J. Butler, died Thursday at 9:25pm at the home of a sister, Mrs. Amos E. Jenson, of 1321 Fifth East Street, after a long illness.
Mrs. Butler was born September 1, 1871 in Granite, a daughter of Solomon J. and Susan Dean Despain. Active in L.D.S. Church work she served as Ward organist and later as president of Sandy Ward Relief Society and the Y.W.M.I.A.
Her husband, who was Bishop of the Sandy Ward, died 10 weeeks ago.
Surviving are a son, Leon E. Butler of Sandy; four daughters, Mrs. Clarence L. Giles and Mrs. W. Henry Smith of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Kimball Anderson of Warner, Alberta, Canada, and Mrs. Eugene R. Steed of Downey, CA; five brothers, Lewis E. Despain, George F. Despain, De Bart Despain and Frank Despain of Granite, and A. Ray Despain of Salt Lake City; her sister, Mrs. Jenson, and 12 grandchildren.
