J. I. Brook, a native of Alabama, and now one of the best known residents of Claude, Texas, came to this state in 1880, and was for many years a stock farmer until he retired. He served in an Alabama regiment during the Civil war, and has always been a loyal Democratic voter, and a member of the Methodist church. There were four children, two sons and two daughters.
