Nellie Viola Arnold, 105, of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Oakview Heights surrounded by her family.

She was born February 10, 1909 in Bellmont, Illinois, the daughter of Samuel F. and Mary S. (Coale) Hinderliter. On April 14, 1934, she married Douglas L. Arnold in Albion, Illinois.

Nellie was a member of the Bellmont Methodist Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Eagles Auxiliary. She worked at the clothing factory as a seamstress for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved dancing, eating M&M's and playing Bingo with Sabrina.

She is survived by a son, Gary (Mary Jo) Arnold; two daughters, Donna Sue (Guy) Alspach and Audrey Ann (Larry) Tice, all of Mt. Carmel; grandchildren, Gary (Sabrina) Arnold, Gerri (Steve) Dodson, Rick Arnold, Stephenie (Mike) Pippin, Stephen Price, Jr., James (Andrea) Price, Sonya (Rick) Bunting, Tammy (Rob) Meeks, J.D. Sharp, and Travis (Elaine) Sharp; a sister, Marybel Sloss of Bellmont, Illinois; 29 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; son, Ronald L. Arnold; twin daughters; grandson, Albert Price; great-granddaughter, Amber Bunting, great-grandson, Dylan Bunting; sisters, Helen Tanquary, Louise Fromm and Ruth Bailey; a brother, Sam Hinderliter; and a special friend, Walter W. Wilson.

The funeral service will be Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Short Funeral Home with visitation Wednesday, March 26, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.

Memorial can be made to the Mt. Carmel Honor Guard in care of Short Funeral Home.
