Pedro Florencio Barbero, 66, of Copperas Cove, TX passed away March 23, 2014,
with his loving family at his side. Pedro was born on August 15, 1947 in Colón,
Republic of Panama to the late Florencio and Lileth McKail Barbero. It was on a
bright sunny day while Pedro was getting a haircut that he saw the girl he would
call his wife, Patricia Albertina Mascoll. She walked in front of the barber
shop, he ran out and asked her for a date, and Patricia said he was too handsome
for her to say no. It was later at a dance that their romance blossomed and
Pedro and Patricia were married on October 9, 1971 in Colón. Pedro’s love of
country and his loyalty to his new wife and growing family gave him the desire
to serve in the United States Army. With his military service, Pedro and his
family were stationed at numerous bases including several in Germany, Panama,
California, North Carolina, and finally Foot Hood. It was here in Texas that he
retired a Sergeant First Class, after 20 years of service. Pedro achieved his
Associates Degree at The University of Maryland. Upon retirement, he went to
work for the Killeen Police Department and was there for 10 years; at the same
time he served as a member of the Harker Heights Volunteer Fire Department. With
Pedro’s travels around the world, he enjoyed swimming, scuba diving, golf and
playing his ukulele. Upon moving to the Killeen area, Pedro enjoyed riding and
caring for his horses, “Ms. Hollywood” and “Pudding” and taking care of his
homestead. Pedro was a very committed husband and father. He was known for his
contagious smile and his deep love for the Lord. Pedro’s legacy will live on
through his family that he taught to always face life with a smile and a good
stern attitude, have a good work ethic, and give love to those in your life and
praise to God above; he will be truly missed.

Pedro leaves behind to continue his legacy and cherish his memory, his loving
wife of over 42 years; his three children; his two grandchildren; along with
numerous other loving family and friends.
