Born in Blacksburg, she was the wife of Lamar Denton and the daughter of the late Ernest Jasper Hardin Sr. and Luna Mae Allison Hardin.
Mrs. Denton, a 1945 graduate of Blacksburg High School, was the last surviving member out of eleven siblings. She went on to open her own beauty shop and become a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 4941.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Denton is survived by a son, Frank Denton and wife, Linda, of York, and three grandchildren, Meredith Denton Farias and husband, Juan, of New York City, N.Y., Alex Denson and wife, Courtney, of Rock Hill, and Allison Denton McMeans and husband, Jeff, of Summerville, S.C.
The family will receive friends on March 25th, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Gordon Mortuary.
Graveside services will be held March 26th, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens with Rev. Scott Hammett, Rev. Ron Bishop, and officiating. Interment will follow at Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Park Fund, 103 South Rutherford Street, Blacksburg, S.C. 29702.
