William Isaac Brown, 56 years old, was found in a dying condition near a woodshed at the home of his sister, Mrs. Mary Irwin, who lives two miles west of Number Ten on the Montmorenci road, at 9 o'clock yesterday morning. The discovery was made by his niece Mrs. Effie Schreck, of West Lafayette, who was visiting at the Irwin home. Mr. Brown had been crippled for some time and when he walked out in the yard he fell. He was breathing his last when his niece reached his side. Dr. Mayfield, of Montmorenci, was summoned, but Mr. Brown had expired before he arrived. Dr. C. V. Davisson, deputy coroner, said the death probably resulted from strangulation. The deceased had been impaired in health for years and was subject to sudden attacks.

He was born in this county and was well known. He never married.

The body was taken to the Frank & Son parlors. The funeral will be conducted from the Baptist church at Hebron tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. The interment will be made in the Hebron cemetery.

Lafayette Morning Journal: May 11, 1917 page 2

NOTE: Death certificate has his birth date as May 20, 1861. However, he appears in the 1860 census as two months of age. I am using May 20, 1860 as his birthdate. OC
