David and Lucinda Sackett had one adopted son. Silas Wright Keltner. He would later take the last name of Sackett although no formal papers were filed in either Wisconsin or Iowa.

David and Lucinda lived in Rockton, Winnebago Illinois in 1850. David had bought land there in 1845. They were close friends of Silas and Elizabeth Keltner whose son Silas Wright was born in Ohio in 1849. The boys parents died, and Silas Wright went to live with the Sacketts.

They later moved, and by 1860 were living in Allamakee County, Iowa.

Silas Write (Keltner) Sackett enlisted in the Army in 1863 and he would have been only 14, so while not unheard, as many youth joined, may have lied about his age, saying he was born in 1845. He passed away as indicated on his memorial in (39674570) 1864.

David Sackett was an area farmer and "Horse wrangler". He passed away in 1875
