(Della was given by her father to Martha D. Whitson, of the Bodenham Community, to raise following her mother's death--reason unknown)

Cause of death is unknown, could have been childbirth related. Date of death is estimation only.
She and 2 teen-age children, along with others in the community, were buried in a secluded, unnamed cemetery off Agnew Road in area of adjoining Mayfield Rd, in Giles County. Cemetery appears to have been destroyed by land owner. The two teen-age children were Thomas Floyd Willis & Fannie Willis, who died following the 1900 U.S. Census in Maury County, during an outbreak of cholera in that area.
Their father was employed in the mines at Mt. Pleasant at that time.
