"Fred Terrell Bell, age 66 died Thursday March 20, 2014 at his home. Born in Cleveland County on October 20, 1947 he was the son of the late Fred Claude and Mary Ellen Holman Bell. Fred received a BA in English from UNC-Charlotte. He formerly worked as a sports writer for Triple D publishing and later in textiles. Fred was a loving husband, brother, and stepfather. Fred was a collector, enjoyed sports and loved animals. In addition to his parents, Fred is preceded in death by his beloved pet, "Princess".
Fred is survived by his wife of 18 years, Deborah Green Bell; three step-sons, Timmy Davis and Fiancée Shannon, Brian Davis and wife Melissa, and Brad Davis all of Shelby; a sister, Renee Gilbert and husband Stuart of Shelby; nieces and nephews, Allison Scott, Charlie Randall, Laura Sherer and husband Michael, Josie Sherer, Maddie Scott, Mikey Scott and Zach Randall; brothers and sisters-in-law, Vickie and Joe Harrelson of Gastonia, Cathy and Jeff Buchanan of Jefferson SC, and Patricia and Larry Holmes of Grover and Roxanne Hicks of Grover.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 11:00am in the chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends an hour before the service from 10:00am until 11:00am.
