William Bockenmuehl, 97, the son of a pioneer Spokane area family, died at a hospital here yesterday.

A native of Belleville, Ill., he had been a resident of Deer Park 70 years.

Mr. Bockemuehl was a millright for Deer Park Lumber Co. for 40 years before his retirement in 1945. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Deer Park.

His parents homesteaded at Hartline, Wash., in 1887 and an uncle was a merchant at Fort Spokane in 1880. Another uncle homesteaded at Fort George Wright here.

Mr. Bockemuehl leaves two daughters, Angela Peterson and Alma Lucas, both of Spokane, three sons, Frank, Newport, Wash.; Harold W. Missoula, Mont., and Howard, Hartline; a brother, George D., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and 13 grandchildren.

Rosary is planned at 8:30 pm Monday at Hennessey's. The funeral will be at 11 Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Deer Park, followed by interment at 2 at Holy Cross.
