Marcella A. Weiser, age 92 of Elmwood, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood, Wis.

Marcella was born on Nov. 2, 1913, near Elmwood. She was the daughter of Mathew and Anna (Schwebach) Appel. She was a lifelong resident of Elmwood. After high school, she went to River Falls Teachers College and received her Masters degree in education from the University of Minnesota. Marcella married Newell Weiser in July of 1956 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elmwood. Marcella went from teaching in one-room schools to a primary teacher in Elmwood and then as a supervisor in the Spring Valley School District. She spent 36 years in the educational field. After retirement, Marcella and Newell spent their winters in Arizona, where they loved to square dance. Marcella’s love for her family, humor and joy for life were an inspiration to us all.

Marcella is survived by her husband, Newell; and three nieces, Betty Davison, Carol (Don) Hesse and Jeanne (Larry) Hatswell. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Marguerite DeLong and Irmina Klett; and a twin brother, Leonard.

Funeral services for Marcella will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elmwood. Rev. Varkey Joseph will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call an hour prior to services on Monday.
